Pure Rose Water
The process of making pure rose water and rose essential oil is called Herbal distillation. Herbal distillates are the products of this process of distillation, which is in form of essential oils and water soluble components obtained by steam distillation from plants or herbs. These products of distillation have may uses as flavoring, medicine, and skin care. The modern mass production of pure rose water through herbal steam distillation was refined by a Persian chemist Avicenna, which lead to a more efficient and economic uses of it. Attar of roses is the other name of rose essential oil which can be made into rose perfumes.
Attar of roses is actually a mixture of volatile essential oils which obtained by steal-distilling petals of rose. Pure rose water is actually a by-product of this process, which is a watery product under the essential oil of rose which is floating on the surface. This essential oil is then removed and thus remaining is rose water.
Aside of the fact that it is actually a by-product of rose essential oil as the main product, pure rose water is actually have a lot of function and benefits in the use, Pure rose water is believed to have antibacterial properties and therefore is used for skin tonics, hair tonics, and facial mists. Pure rose water is has cooling, shooting and calming sensation in use, it is also anti inflammatory and astringent. A ball of cotton soaked in pure rose water and placed on the eyes are said to be good in healing eye infections and tired eyes. The fragrance of Rose water when it sprayed on the skin helps to relieve anxiety and depression, and also improve the mood.
